My Favorite Brush Cleaner!

Makeup Brush Shampoo
Anti Bacterial Formula
Sephora Brand

*gentle, deep cleaning, affordable, anti bacterial*

So, today I went to Sephora (fifth time this month!!) to use my 15% off card I received in the mail and one of the items I picked up was this brush shampoo. This stuff rocks! I'm on my second bottle and I couldn't be happier! To have wonderful looking makeup, you definitely need to properly clean your brushes and this works perfectly for that!

The formula is a thick gel that is easy to work with and rinses out well. A little bit of the product goes a long way, that is why I only by the travel size (2 fl oz.)for $6.00! I think its a good price for the product. Not to mention it's anti bacterial which is something I definitely want in my brush cleaner. Also, it leaves the brushes feeling like they are brand new without being too harsh!

*Definitely reccommend! :)

Product Rave: Aquage Hair Products

Aquage Hair Products!
"innovative salon haircare with healing sea botanicals"
"The healing benefits of our exclusive Algaeplex sea botanicals in each Aquage product nurture, hydrate, strengthen and protect your hair…beautifully."

I absolutely adore Aquage products. Definitely worth the money!

YOUR HAIR WILL BE SO HAPPY, I PROMISE!

Their are many different products (some award winning!)  Aquage has to offer including  priming, styling, thermalizing, texturizing and finishing products. If you are in the mood to splurge on hair products, I definitely suggest aquage. They definitely have everything you're looking for! I havent been dissatisfied with any of their products that I've tried and i have tried a lot! Whether it was at the salon, or from my own purchases I've tried many of the products. You will definitely notice a difference the first time you use any of the products. I love how they have sulfate free products which don't strip my hair color since i dye my hair. Also, you can get some of their products in travel size which is perfect to take on vacations. I honestly do not have anything bad to say about these products besides the fact that they are pricey. They also provide 100% client satisfaction guarantee so if you don't like the products, you can get a full refund when purchased from aquage.

I love the strengthening shampoo and conditioner shown below. They won't strip your hair color whatsoever and provide heat protection with Thermal-V. I noticed a difference the first time i used this shampoo and conditioner. My hair was really shiny and felt wonderful.

Product Bust: Moonshadow Baked Palette - In the Dark

Moonshadow Baked Palette - In the Dark $30.00

*image taken from Sephora's website*

Colors

  • Lavender
  • Nude
  • White Gold
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Black Purple
  • Deep Brown
  • Glitter Black
  • Black Gold
  • Cobalt Blue

So, i bought this palette completely out of impulse at Sephora. I thought the colors were really pretty, sparkly and baked so i could use them wet or dry. However, the colors do not appear as nicely when using them. They do not get any more vibrant when wet either. The colors are the top row look very similar as do the colors on the bottom row. the colors are not very pigmented whatsoever. Also, the colors have a good bit of fall out. The only plus to this product i have is the packaging. All in all i thought this palette was rather disappointing.

wet ^^ the colors did not change or get any more vibrant.

Must Have For the Summer!

RADIANT!
$38.00

This product is definitely a summer must have, in my opinion. Wear it as a base, alone, or mix it with your tinted moisturizer or Makeup Forever's HD foundation and you will have such an awesome color. This primer gives you just enough of a tan and glow while creating a smooth canvas for when you apply foundation. Don't worry its oil-free!! This also is great for camouflaging uneven skin tones. However, I don't think this product will work for dark/deep skin tones because it may lighten your face too much.

Let me know if you want to see a video review!

Review: Makeup Forever HD Foundation

So, I went to Sephora on Friday and I caved. I finally bought Make Up Forever's HD Foundation. Lets just start by saying I am in love! This buildable foundation is $40.00 and definitely worth the buy.

What it is:
"An oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life."
-Sephora.com

I've worn this foundation a few times now and I really like the coverage. I need a foundation that won't make me shiny, and helps cover and blemishes. It has a light-weight formula that really does last a long time. This product does all of that. I also love the packaging! Its so sleek and has a pump which I love so I don't end up wasting the product. Not to mention, its HD so you will look really good on camera.

I really like to pair the foundation with this HD Microfinish Powder (100 percent mineral silica). I feel that these two products go hand in hand. It has a sheer coverage that absorbs oil. its completely invisible and great for all skin tones! It helps keep your makeup on all day and gives a subtle glow to the skin.

**With these two products you'll have a flawless look!**

Blush, Blush, Blush

Which blush color is best for your skin tone

Very pale: Soft pastels without any brown tones

Light: pale pink tones

Medium: sandy pink to tawny tones

Yellow or Olive: rose or deep pink tones

Dark: soft plum or deep cranberry tones

Types of Blushes

Powder: Easiest formula for application. Everyone should own powder blushes

Gel: Best worn on totally smooth skin. This type gives a sheer color but can be hard to blend

Cream: Great for dry skin because of its dewy finish. However, if you have active breakouts do not wear a cream blush because you can rub away your foundation. Varies between denser and sheerer formulas

Big Pencils: Works best with normal skin because it can be hard to blend with dry skin. Pencils can also be used on the lips and are the easiest to carry around with all day for quick touch ups.

Tints: Best for smooth skin and are a sheer color usually in a stick form

Tip of the Week: Always Remove Your Makeup!

Tip of the Week
Always Remove Your Makeup!

Preventing stains from ending up on your pillow case are not the only reason why you should remove your makeup each night before bed.

Sleeping with makeup on can lead to blemishes, clogged pores, loss of eye lashes and irritated skin.

It is not secret that makeup blocks our skin pores, which blocks the natural flow of sebum(the skins natural oil) to keep the skin nice and moisturized and rid dry skin cells. When your pores are blocked, dry skin cells can stick on to the pores resulting in infections such as pimples, acne, blackheads, and dry skin.

Mascara makes eyelashes thick, hard and inflexible especially if you add more than one coat to your lashes. if your eyes itch at night, for one reason or another, you have the potential to break off your lashes. Lashes fall out all the time, but leaving your makeup on at night can increase the chances of that happening.

If you leave your eye shadow on at night, it can lead to dry eye lids. Also, not all eye shadows are matte; therefore, glitter and sparkles can fall into your eyes causing redness and irritation.

Eye infections can certainly be caused from leaving your makeup on at night. Makeup  contains chemicals which tend to drain into your eyes as you sleep. These harmful chemicals can eventually cause loss of eye sight, pink eye, and serious eye infections.

To avoid these problems, use makeup remover wipes and a good facial cleanser followed by a moisturizer to keep your skin healthy, blemish free and looking fresh!

Beauty Finds Under $10.00

Love finding great deals on beauty? Well if your answer is yes then keep reading!

So, heres the deal. I was in a bind and needed a concealer asap and did not have the time to run to Sephora since mine in not close by. So what did I do? I went to Walmart, yes, Walmart. I never expected to find a product that I loved so much from Walmart. This concealer made by Hard Candy is truly wonderful. This is definitely my favorite concealer currently and it only cost me $6.00!!

Glamoflauge by Hard Candy comes in 3 different shades: light, medium, and tan. This heavy duty, multi use concealer, provides the ultimate coverage. Use this to conceal blemishes, dark circles, and even tattoos!

After wearing this product a few times, I've noticed that it's not too dry or too oily. My skin is combination, oily to dry, and acne prone but I have not noticed and problems.

When applying this product for best results, use a little amount because it goes a long way. It almost seems like an endless tube because just a dab its all you'll need.

However.... I do not know how this covers tattoos because I cannot exactly reach my tattoo located on my lower back. Since this product is heavy duty and buildable it should work just fine, especially if you use the pencil for any outlining work.

If you're looking for a great concealer try this one out!

As spring approaches, it is essential to know the upcoming trends in beauty for the season. These trends I am listing are my favorite and were found on the runways for spring 2012

    • Black dramatic liner, pumped up lashes and light or bright eye shadow paired with something dark.60's inspired eyes
  • Red, Red, Red
    • Try wearing red, crimson, or red-orange lip sticks and pair it with a more neutral eye
  • Navy/ dark blue hues
    • Wear dark, dramatic eye shadows in blue to rock this look
  • Bold arches
    • Intense feminine brows (especially paired with a nude lip) are definitely in for the season
  • Metallic eyes
    • use shades such as copper, gold and silver to achieve this look

Life Span of Makeup

Ever wonder if your makeup has an expiration date? Well, incase you may have not know, yes it does. It is very important to throw away your makeup when your supposed to that way you can receive the maximum benefits from the products while avoiding infections.

According to a March 9, 2000, FDA report (revised October 15, 2002), “Consumers should be aware that make up expiration dates are simply ‘rules of thumb,’ and that a product’s safety may expire long before the expiration date if the product has not been properly stored. Cosmetics that have been improperly stored – for example, exposed to high temperatures or sunlight, or opened and examined by consumers prior to final sale – may deteriorate substantially before the expiration date. On the other hand, products stored under ideal conditions may be acceptable long after the expiration date has been reached.”

By law, cosmetics are not required to provide an expiration date for you on each product. From the very moment you open it, the life and effectiveness of the product decreases as bacteria grows. Aging cosmetics lose their effectiveness to fight bacteria no matter how careful you are when using it. No matter how expensive the product may be you must treat it with care care. Make sure you store your makeup in a dry, cool area. Needless to say, any cosmetic that changes texture, consistency or smell, should be thrown away immediately.

If your makeup does not have this symbol with a number and a "M" for how many months
before you should throw it away, follow these general guidelines I have provided below.
  • Facial Cleansers & Moisturizers
    • 6 months
  • Foundation
    • 3-6 months
      •  You'll know when it's time to toss your foundation, when the ingredients begin to settle or separate, the texture/consistency thickens or thins, or the smell changes.
  • Concealer
    • 12 months if your using a blush and properly cleaning the brush after each use
      • Wand applicator concealers should be discarded within 6 months since they’re more likely to grow unwanted bacteria.
  • Powders
    • 12-18 months if your using clean brushes
  • Mascara
    • 3 months
      • never pump your mascara because air pushes bacteria into the tube
        • never ever share mascara
  • Lip gloss & Lipstick
    •  1 year
  • Eye/Lip Pencils
    • 1 year
**Remember, never share makeup and always use properly cleaned brushes!

Product Bust: Prime Time

Prime Time Foundation Primer Oil Control by Bare Escentuals

What it is: An oil-free foundation primer

BareEscentuals.com exclaims this product is "Designed for oily, sensitive, and problem-prone skin, our Prime Time Oil Control is clinically proven to control excess shine. Apply this silicone- and oil-free primer prior to your bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation for evenly textured, shine-free coverage all day."

I bought this product on black friday back in 2011 for $22. Since then I have tried this product many times only to realize that this product is an upset. This primer claims to leave the skin oil-free and ready for foundation. When i tried this product, it had a sticky consistency and I used just the right amount to cover my face. When I applied this product I did not like how it felt when it dried. My face felt tighter and much drier with the product on. Then, when I began to apply my foundation/powder the primer rubbed right off and flaked all over my face. I have never experienced a primer to flake off before. However, this product did not break me out or add any excess shine to my face but some of it was rubbed off. All in all, I believe that their are much better primers out there.

My rating- 2/5
Would I purchase again? No

Product Rave: Kat Von D Triple Threat Tattoo Liners

Kat Von D Triple Threat Tattoo Liners
What it is:
A set of three liquid eye liners each with different tips to achieve certain looks.

I recently went to my favorite Sephora store with this product on my mind and ready to purchase. This set costs $39.00 which is a great value and definitely worth the buy. These highly pigmented blackest black, quick drying felt tip liners provide endless looks rather easy to achieve. These liners are great for people starting to create the winged eye liner effect or "cat-eye" look. The triple threat tattoo liners provide long lasting, smudge proof wear that lasts all day.

The different liners provide a lot of flexibility allowing you to create tons of looks
  • Poetica- Chiseled tip used to create a bold line
  • Saint- Thin tip used to create a precise line
  • Sinner- Medium tip used to contour and really define your eyes

My rating: 4.5/5

*I would purchase this product again.
Thanks for reading!
